My Story at Florisol
I was born on January 5, 1957, in Quito and I am the first of seven siblings. I joined Florisol on November 19, 1984, at 28 years old, and I was one of the first employees.
Since then my life changed: my economic situation improved, I met my husband —with whom I now enjoy retirement— and I was able to educate my three daughters and build my house.
At first, it was tough because Florisol was an avocado and strawberry farm; with effort, we built greenhouses and increased flower production. I am very grateful to Architect Dávalos for his generosity and support.
I feel proud to have given my best at Florisol. Now I enjoy my retirement with my husband, my daughters, and my grandchildren.
My name is Jose Morales, I was born on March 19, 1962, in the Parish of Atahualpa. Before joining Florisol, I worked with my father on our properties. I learned about the company when the farm caretaker told us that Florisol was going to be created and that they needed workers. I joined on July 16, 1984, and at that time we were only ten men.
We started by building the reservoir and then we tore down the avocado farm to set up the first greenhouses. As production grew, we expanded the modules and hired more staff from Minas and Chavezpamba. At first, we walked from Chavezpamba to the farm, but after a month, Architect Dávalos got a car for transportation.
I fondly remember that four years into our work, he took us on a trip to Manta, where we shared with him, his wife, and Mrs. Verónica Montúfar. It was an unforgettable experience. Over time, every year we organized Christmas outings with our families, and on the 25th anniversary of the company, we celebrated at the Expo Flores fair, where we received a recognition plaque along with my wife.
Everything I have today I owe to God, to my effort, and to Architect Dávalos, who opened the doors of the company for us and gave me the opportunity to work until I retired two years ago.
My name is Ana Lucía Gordillo, I am 30 years old and I have been working at Florisol for 12 years. Before joining Clarivel, I helped my parents at home, but when I turned 18, I decided to look for a job and found it at Florisol. On my first day, I was taught how to harvest and then I moved to work in Post-Harvest, where I stayed for three years and learned different tasks. Thanks to my effort, the bosses began to consider me for performance and quality control tasks, until a promotion was made to take the position of cold room manager. I took the test, scored the highest, and learned to pack and label.
After two years in the cold room, I was given the opportunity to control and be middle management in the chrysanthemum harvest for another two years, until I reached my current position as Post-Harvest Supervisor, where I have been for six years.
My great dream has always been to build my house, and thanks to the stability that working at Clarivel provided me, with timely and fair payments, I was able to do it. Today I live happily with my two children.
My name is Gladys Tufiño, I am 52 years old and I have been working at Florisol for 19 years. I live in Chavezpamba and before joining the farm, I worked with my family in agriculture. When I was 19, my father, who already worked at Florisol, told me they were hiring staff, and the next day he took me. Thanks to him, I started working in cleaning, harvesting, and greenhouse construction activities, although I only stayed for three months because I found the love of my life and got married.
Sixteen years passed, and at 35, I decided to return to work, this time at Clarivel, which was just opening as a new farm. I returned because I was going through an economic crisis and wanted to help support my family, made up of my husband and my four children. In the interview, Architect Dávalos recognized me and asked that I be allowed to work immediately, on the condition that this time it would be for many years.
I have always liked that Architect Dávalos rewarded good workers; once he gave me a sound system for my performance. They also supported me when my husband had an accident, granting me permits and loans to cope with the situation.
After 19 years of work, I feel proud that I am no longer the only one in the company, but also my husband and two of my four children.
My name is Alba Versave Casa Quinatoa, I was born on December 31, 1981. I am 37 years old and I have worked at Piaveri for 20 years. My story in the company began on May 1, 1997, when I was 16 years old and eager to work. Piaveri gave me the opportunity to demonstrate my effort and commitment.
I started with no knowledge about roses, but from the first day, I received patience and support to learn. Over time, all my colleagues shared their experience in flower management with me, and I grew within the company.
Today I feel very grateful for these 20 years of work. The company has always been punctual with payments, and thanks to my salary, I have been able to cover my expenses, especially my children's education.
I am also grateful for the Fair Trade projects, which have allowed us to access benefits such as hot water with a heater and a kitchen for my family. These aids represent fulfilled dreams for all of us who work at Jardines Piaveri.
My name is Beatriz Puco, I am 43 years old, happily married, and I have four children. Eighteen years ago, I started working at Jardines Piaveri, where I have learned every day about the management and cultivation of roses. That knowledge has taught me to value my work, to be responsible, respectful of nature, and supportive in difficult times.
Together with the engineers, supervisors, and colleagues, we give our best every day with the desire for the company to continue growing and prospering.
During these years, I have lived very beautiful experiences. The company witnessed my marriage and the birth of my children, and I am sure it will accompany me for many more years.
I feel very happy to be part of the Piaveri family and deeply grateful for all the support we have received.
My name is Nelly Casa, I am 32 years old. I joined Piaveri on May 7, 2005, and I have already been part of this prestigious company for 13 years. Before, I worked at another flower company in the sector, but here I met excellent technicians who taught me new ways to manage the plants to achieve better production.
Thanks to my work and effort, I have been able to build my house and educate my three children. I am very grateful because the company gave me the opportunity to grow and to be part of the prestige that Piaveri represents.
I really enjoy working with roses; I have the responsibility to make the plants grow and take care of them so that they produce beautiful stems. I love seeing their colors and it motivates me to know that each stem brings joy to people.
The company cares about our well-being; we have free medical and dental dispensaries, both for us and our families. I also appreciate the Corporation's programs, especially the school scholarships for my children and the white goods projects, which have allowed me to obtain appliances that I could not acquire before.
